Salale University’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, in collaboration with the Horticulture Department,
organized a consultative workshop and field day to foster collaboration, share research insights, and enhance apple production in the community.
The event was attended by Dr. Genanew Gofe, President of Salale University; Dr. Tsegaye Deyou, Vice President for Academic and Research Affairs; Dr. Eshetu Wandimu, Head of the President’s Office; Shewadinber Mokonen, Dean of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources; and agricultural experts from zonal and woreda agriculture offices.
In her welcome address, Dean Shewadinber Mokonen highlighted the college’s commitment to research that addresses local agricultural challenges.
Dr. Genanew Gofe emphasized the need to leverage knowledge and skills to conduct impactful research, ensuring its effective dissemination for societal benefit. He urged participants to work diligently to maximize the impact of apple research.
Closing the event, Dr. Tsegaye Deyou reaffirmed that research should focus on solving community challenges and improving livelihoods. He praised the promising results of current apple research and underscored the importance of continuing further studies in this field.
