Welcome to Salale University’s (SlU) Official Website,It is my great honor to serve as the President of Salale University, and I am deeply inspired to work alongside the dedicated and enthusiastic staff of our institution. I firmly believe that education is the most powerful tool to drive national progress and improve lives in all dimensions. It serves as the foundation for all forms of advancement, achievable only when access and equity are ensured.

With this vision, and guided by our motto, "Co-Creating Quality," Salale University was established in 2015 in Fiche town, North Showa Zone, Oromia Region, located 112 kilometers from Addis Ababa. Since its inception, SlU has been steadfastly committed to its three core missions: education, research, and community service. The University began its academic journey with nine undergraduate programs. Today, it offers more than thirty undergraduate programs, and we have finalized preparations to launch postgraduate programs in various fields by 2020. Our region, North Showa, widely known as "Salale" for historical reasons, is uniquely positioned, bordered by two major tributaries of the Nile River—Mogor and Jama—as well as the Nile itself. This area has attracted significant attention from researchers and academics due to its potential mineral resources.

College of Natural Science Conducts Training on Outcome-Based Education and Curriculum Revision

Salale University College of Natural Science recently organized a training program on Outcome-Based Education and curriculum revision aimed at enhancing academic quality, strengthening curriculum development, and equipping faculty with practical skills for designing, implementing, and assessing outcome-oriented programs.

Welcoming participants, Dr. Fekadu Tolessa, Dean of the College, noted the progress already made in the College’s curriculum review efforts. He added that the training is expected to address remaining gaps in OBE implementation, curriculum design and revision frameworks, and quality assurance procedures, while offering practical support to departments as they work to finalize their curriculum documents.

Mr. Gezahegn Faye, Special Assistant to the Academic and Research Vice President, highlighted the significance of the program in enhancing teaching and learning processes. He emphasized that building strong competencies in outcome-oriented instruction is essential for ensuring that academic programs are aligned with institutional and national standards.

Participants expressed strong appreciation for the training, noting that it provided them with a thorough understanding of Outcome-Based Education, including its principles and practical applications. They also emphasized the importance of the interactive sessions, stating that collaborative discussions strengthened their confidence in applying OBE and improved their curriculum review work.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Tsegaye Deyou, Vice President for Academic and Research Affairs, emphasized that the successful implementation of Outcome-Based Education and curriculum revision requires active engagement and unwavering commitment from all stakeholders. He highlighted that collaboration, shared responsibility, and continuous support are essential to ensure that intended educational outcomes are fully achieved and that programs meet high academic standards.
