Sustainable quality education will not be achieved within an overnight, or in a one year project effort; rather, it requires continuous inspection and improvement of the existing practice. It necessitates critical reflection and building a new successful or improved institutional and professional distinctiveness. Besides, to maintain sustainable quality education, it requires quality education and quality assurance paradigm shift. This paradigm shift is evident in the current commitment and growing anxious concern of the FDRE for quality enhancement, and so does Salale University. Academic Program and Quality Assurance organ is a recent addition to Salale University in action. It has no more than one and half year age. The directorate is staffed with director, classroom facilitators and secretary. These all are working at institutional level as part of Institutional Academic Program and Quality Assurance system. Among the major activities of the directorate fulfilling teaching learning inputs i.e., materials and other resources, developing different policies and guidelines as per the legislation, capacity building, staff development, program expansion, conducting internal audit at institutional, program and course level are some of them on which our directorate is working on.
Salale University is comprised of five colleges and thirty programs in undergraduate program. The colleges are Business and Economics, Social Sciences and Humanities, Agriculture and Natural Resource, Natural sciences and Health Sciences.
The college of Business and Economics offers the programs which are offering in undergraduate program includes; Accounting and Finance, Management, Economics and Marketing Management (under College of Business and Economics); Animal science, Plant Science, Natural Resource Management, Horticulture, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development and Agricultural Extension, Water Resource and Irrigation Management (under College of Agriculture and Natural Resource); Law, Sociology, Geography and Environmental Studies, History and Heritage Management, Social Anthropology, Civics and Ethical Studies, English Language and Literature, Afan Oromo and Literature, and Amharic Language and Literature (under College of Social Sciences and Humanities); Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Geology and Statistics (under College of Natural Science); and Public Health, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science and Midwifery (under College of Health Sciences). Finally, our directorate believes that “Compromised Quality of Education hurts a country more than nuclear bomb”. Hence, we recommend the university community as well as other stakeholders to share their hands for quality education in our university in particular and national level at large.
“Quality is Everyone’s Responsibility”
