Overview of the department

Since its establishment as one department under college of business and economics, Salale University in 2015, the department of Accounting & Finance has been contributing towards meeting the country’s demand for trained human resources in the areas of accounting, finance, financial management, auditing and investment. The Department of accounting & Finance is presently one of the six departments within the College of Business and Economics having with undergraduate regular, evening and weekend programs in the specialization of accounting and finance and postgraduate regular and weekend programs in the specialization of accounting and finance. Now there is also on progress Finance and investment specialization for postgraduate regular and weekend programs. Currently the Department has 470 students in undergraduate program, and 70 masters’ students in postgraduate.

To become the leading and known high quality accounting and Finance education provider that integrates community-based research and consultancy services.

Mission of the Department

The mission of the department in the College of Business and Economics (CoBE) is to meet the University’s mission. Particularly, the mission of the Department is:  to provide high quality courses to support the undergraduate and graduate programs of the department, College of Business and Economics and the University at large, to highly support the community through training and consultancy service, to do productive, high quality research, and publication work, to provide service, largely through committee representation to the college and University level professionally  and to foster department of Accounting and finance and college  of business and economics interaction with the internal and external community in ways that enhances the common good.

Objective of the Department

The primary goal of the department is to provide quality education in accounting and finance at the undergraduate and graduate levels by integrating practical training, research and consultancy service.

Specific Objectives      

  • To produce competent graduates with up-to-date knowledge and skill in the field of Accounting, Finance, financial management, Auditing, costing, taxation, project management and financing and finance and investment.
  • To have highly educated and motivated professionals who provide consultancy services in the area of finance, taxation, investments, project management and financing and financial management, and other finance sector
  • To create and develop linkage with various public finances, financial institutions such as Banks, Insurance, microfinances and other finance companies and training, consultancy and research institutions.
