This collaboration will also include joint research projects, co-organizing conferences, seminars, and workshops, as well as initiatives in curriculum development, capacity building, and community empowerment. Key areas of focus will include addressing youth unemployment, entrepreneurship, and women’s empowerment, along with creating internship opportunities and promoting engagement with technology and innovation.

Dr. Genanew Gofe, President of Salale University, warmly welcomed and expressed appreciation to the distinguished delegates from reFocus Afrika for their visit, recognizing the importance of expanding ties and cooperation with Ethiopia, and specifically with Salale University. He emphasized the university’s commitment to working with both national and international organizations to achieve common goals. Dr. Genanew further highlighted the critical role of fostering networks and collaboration across Africa, with a particular focus on technology and innovation, to develop innovative solutions to the continent's unique challenges.

On behalf of reFocus Afrika, Dr. Lisa Acogny, Co-founder and President, described the occasion as a historic moment and the beginning of a promising journey that will lay the foundation for a brighter and more prosperous future. She expressed high expectations for the partnership, stating that reFocus Afrika is fully committed to supporting academic excellence and youth development.

Dr. Tsegaye Deyou, Vice President for Academic  and Research, provided an overview of Salale University’s background. He emphasized the university’s dedication to collaborating with partners to enhance academic excellence, drive research and innovation, encourage diversity, and increase its global recognition.

At the conclusion of the event, Dr. Genanew Gofe and Dr. Lisa Acogny led a discussion, addressing questions raised by participants. Both leaders signed the MoU on behalf of their respective institutions, marking the beginning of this important partnership.
